Phenomenal Woman of the Month: DyNeisha Rainey

Full name  Dyneisha Rainey
Occupation  Self-taught Hairstylist/Braider

Education  Texas State University Alumna

1. What does Phenomenal Woman mean to you?

A Phenomenal Woman, is a fearless woman. This woman is someone who is strong, hard working, goal oriented, and untouchable. When she steps into a room her presence alone will lighten up a room and have others in awe. She paves the way for others and is an inspiration to those around her. A phenomenal woman always keeps her head up high and overcomes adversity with a smile on her face. Her growth helps shape her and expands her mentality. A phenomenal woman is what I wish to be one day.

2. What is your brand and how did you get started?
My brand is called BraidsByNeisha and it was created back in Summer 2017 . My brand was started at a time when I really had no idea what I wanted to do with my life post graduation. I’ve really always been infatuated with hair but never thought of it as a career. I was seeing so many individuals finding their side hustle and thought to myself, “wow I want find my own hustle that I’m good at too”. I had a long deep conversation with my friend Peter Nobyl about it and he gave me great advice. That night I prayed and asked God for guidance, next thing I know I’m braiding everybody’s hair!

3. What is your dream goal and how do you plan on achieving it?
My dream goal is to be a successful business woman and owner of my own chain of hair salons in the future. I would love to also be a major celebrities hairdresser one day too. I plan to achieve these goals after getting my cosmetology license and then working forward to growing my funds and finding good locations to start a business.

4. Name a moment that inspired you to feel more confident and inspired you to be comfortable in the skin you are in.
One moment that has given me more confidence in myself would have been after presenting my first BraidsByNeisha Promo. The level of support and positive feedback I was receiving from my peers and fellow students at school really helped showed me that maybe I could take this to the next level and build something out of it. I was so proud of myself that I was able to create and produce something so great and original on my own, that others enjoyed was such a big accomplishment for me. And afterwards, to see so many people interested in getting their hair done and entrusting me to do it gave me clarity that this is the work I wanted to do.

5. Name a person (dead or alive) that you look up to and why?
One person that I really look up to is my mother. She’s been such a huge supporter and influencer in my life and I truly hope that one day I can be just as successful, smart, beautiful and amazing as she is. My mother has helped shaped my into being the woman I am today and is constantly giving me advise, challenging and motivating me to follow my dreams and be a stronger, intelligent black woman.

6. When it comes to being a woman, what do you feel should be the three core values that a lady should uphold?
When it comes to being not only just a woman, but a black woman I believe three strong core values to have should be resiliency, respect, and compassion.

7. Favorite quote and what it means to you?
My favorite quote it Philippians 4:13 “I can do all this through Christ who strengthens me.”

To me this quote means that as long as I have God with me I am capable and able to achieve any/all of my goals and triumph over any obstacles that may come into my life. I can and will be great.

8. Piece of advice that you would give to young girls who aren't confident with themselves?
A piece of advice I would give young girls would be to always entrust in God and his ability to project change and create blessings to your life. Also, continue to grow and expand your horizons. Don’t be afraid to take those risk that scare you, because those same risks whether or not you fail at them will bring you great opportunities, knowledge, experience, confidence and that can help elevate your life to new places you’d never thought you’d reach. Always keep pushing yourself to new heights!
