1. What does Phenomenal Woman mean to you?

2. What is your brand and how did you
get started?
My brand is still being developed,
but I want it to scream confidence, creativity, and passion! I got my start in
journalism during my junior year of high school writing for my community
newspaper.
My brand is someone who is dedicated to the craft. I work
on analyzing the media, and being critical of our sources. With all these
websites and virtual forums available, it is hard to determine real news from
fake news. I strive to make cohesive and dependable works that are insightful,
relatable and tailored to my specific audience. I love to make projects that
are detail oriented, give a lesson, and are visually compelling to watch.
Everyday I strive to learn something new or get inspired by reading about
another young professional working hard to achieve his/her dreams. While I am
in school, I want to utilize my winter break and the rest of the year to focus
on my brand and develop myself as a professional for the ‘real world’.
2 3.What is
your dream goal and how do you plan on achieving it?
My dream goal
is to be a part of a top media company like Viacom, Comcast, or NBC and be the
executive producer for its television and digital media branch. I want to be
the one that funds new Tv show ideas and help build the brand of the company. I
feel that it is important to have steps to become be on top. My first step is
to start off a production or studio where I can learn to hone my technical
skills, and build my network connections. My next step is to learn about the different
aspects of the business so I can position myself to be in the programming
development, strategy, and planning department. Here, I will learn the logistics
of programming shows and different multimedia platforms. Then lastly, I plan to
attend graduate school for business and communications so I can learn how to
finance film and television shows. I hope to achieve these goals on a 30-year
timeline, and I look forward to my future.
4. Name a moment that inspired you to
feel more confident and inspired you to be comfortable in the skin you are in.
I think seeing black women embrace more
African designs and clothing into their fashion sense has been inspiring. A
couple of years back the BET Awards featured a few African fashion designers
who featured some of their designs on celebrities at the red carpet. It truly
made me realize that we, as black women, can embrace other cultures without
denying our own culture within America.
5. Name a person (dead or alive) that
you look up to and why?
I look up to Oprah Winfrey because of
her dedication to the craft. She started off as a journalist then had her break
and is now owns her own network channel. I believe that I have the power to
have a similar path in life.
6. When it comes to being a woman,
what do you feel should be the three core values that a lady should
uphold?
The three core values that a lady should
uphold to are diligence, empathy, and love. Love can really create some great
things and have a wave of peace in your life.
7. Favorite quote and what it means
to you?
My favorite quote is ‘do unto others, as
they do unto you’. Although this isn`t an official quote from a notable speaker
or well-known person, its message is clear. Everyday when I wake up I assure
that I want others to treat me with care and respect. I always treat everyone I
meet with honesty and compassion.
8. Piece of advice that you would
give to young girls who aren't confident with themselves?
My piece of advice would be to never
hold yourself to perfectionism. By doing this you don’t give yourself
opportunities to truly learn and embrace both the bad and the good in life.
